I really like the scan feature and the weather access. Its very clear hooked up with a weather ready Lil' Will antenna. I am glad I got this one because its small size. I used a bandi antenna mount, firestik coax cable, super heavy antenna mount spring, quick release and 3' firestik adjustabe antenna.įor the price this is a pretty good unit. I did purchase a kit specifically for the FJ to complete this. I also like like the 10 NOAA channel feature. It is clean, easy to get to and not in the way of any passenger. I choose to mount the unit on the center console, passenger side. It has all the features one would need for any off-roading. I didn't want a hand held unit so I purchased this one. I recently installed this radio in my Toyota FJ Cruiser. Joe walkie talkie! i like the radio it will stay installed in the truck but i already ordered a sweet Connex 4600 Turbo SuperWhackedPacked for when i need to stomp the mud ducks! =op. sound tracker works decent as well as the dual watch but the scan feature is sketchy since there is no RF gain control! the knobs feel loose and chintzy feels like a G.I. weather band is sweet! I installed it in the dash below my regular radio which is a bonus. The radio is good for the $$ but i wish i paid $30 less for it! there is no RF gain which would make this a sweet deal, i pick up farther than i can transmit but cannot block out what i want to hear, if only i could turn down the RF! PA option would have been nice also. Works great, good price & quick delivery. Seems to work ok.i get engine noise through it thought, all the features work good and i really love the scan. It's totally terrible when you use it while driving. The 75-822 just pick nothing but a little the folding motor. I installed them two in the same SUV with identical antennas (Cobra HGA-1500), the 18WX picks noise from every thing: engine, fuel pump, folding motor of mirror, air conditioner, horn and even horn of those cars beside you. The 18WX is very bad compare with 75-822 about noise filtering. My ratings to these three CB are: Cobra 1 star, Midland and Honda 5 stars. I have three CB radios: Honda JC-216H for my motorcycle ($600.- and it's the reason that I start with CB), Midland 75-822 ($85), and this Cobra 18 WX ST II ($64). Product arrive two days before ETA(free shipping). The unit also provides instant access to emergency channels 9 and 19 for emergency announcements. The Cobra 18 WX ST II's squelch control eliminates background noise when there is no signal. The heavy-duty microphone extends to 9 feet and has dynamic voice response circuitry for clear communication. Its Dual Watch function allows simultaneous monitoring of 2 channels. The radio can pick up 10 NOAA Weather Radio channels so you always have up-to-the-minute weather news. The easy-to-read display shows the channel number, incoming signal strength, and RE power output. This sleek, compact mobile CB radio can quickly and accurately scan through all 40 CR channels. In the transmission mode, it actually strengthens the signal, providing you with a significant reduction in noise on reception and transmission. While previous systems only "blanked out" or limited noise in higher sound frequencies, the revolutionary new SoundTracker System actually reduces noise while leaving the signal intact in the reception mode. Cobra maintains its market dominance by maximizing its competitive advantages of being a product innovator and applying cutting-edge technologies. The 18 WX ST II CB radio features SoundTracker Noise Reduction System. Cobra Electronics is a leading global manufacturer of innovative mobile communications products for consumers, having attained a leadership position in every market in which it currently does business.
